Little known story : When we were rambling around Stephens Green one fine summers day in 1972 or 73 we saw a stunning wee blonde girl we both knew called Liz Igoe who was then about 17-18. Liz was probably one of the most gorgeous girls in Dublin at that time and I stopped to talk to her (I had met her quite a few times and we had two good male friends in common- and they were absolutely besotted by her, as was half of Dublin !). We all walked and talked awhile, her petite 5'2 sandwiched between myself and Phillip, both of us 6'2- and, if I remember correctly, all three of us were wearing heels which made myself and the man look like leggy spiders with pretty voluptuous Lizzy with her long flowing curls and gypsy dress floating like a dreamy moth oblivious of any webs we were desperately weaving to lure her for a jar in the Bailey.....anything to spend even a few more minutes in her company.

It has been said that Phillip was inspired by this same young lady and called the band Lizzy after her, adding the Tin because it scanned better. Tin Lizzy was also a famous automobile in the 1920-30s and I remember Phillip was chuffed when I told him their unofficial slogan was "Any colour you like as long as it's black ! ". Somewhere along the way it mutated into Thin Lizzy -which was sort of appropriate anyway. But that's another story for another day.

Wonder what became of Liz ? Saw her a few times in the mid 70s, after that then she vanished.
